Rapid Rewards is southwest's frequent flyer program where by you earn credits based on trips that you take. You earn one credit for each one way trip you take, and you can earn bonus credits if you purchase a business select fare. Credits can also be earned with their partners, which are detailed on the Southwest Rapid Rewards site. Credits expire 24 months after they are earned. You can redeem 16 credits for a standard roundtrip award, and combine two standard awards for a freedom award.

Also, if you fly 32 one-ways within a 12 month period you can earn A-list membership, which includes priority boarding, check-in, and security (at select airports).
